THE OLD WORDS. A NEW PERSPECTIVE.
What can the old Norse poems teach us today?
This collection brings together three important works from the Norse literary tradition: Hávamál, Völuspá, and Rígsmál.
Read the Old Norse verses alongside English translations and personal reflections that explore their meaning, themes, stories, and lessons. From Odin's words of wisdom and the mysteries of Ragnarök to the origins of humanity and society, these ancient poems offer a glimpse into a world of gods, hospitality, wisdom, and human nature.
But this book does not claim to provide the one "correct" interpretation.
The Norse texts have been translated and interpreted in many different ways, and readers may find meanings that differ from those presented here. This book is intended as a starting point: a way to read the old words, consider their meaning, and continue exploring them for yourself.
Whether you are a practicing Norse Pagan, someone curious about the old gods, a reader fascinated by Viking Age literature, or simply interested in ancient mythology, these three works offer a journey into one of Europe's most enduring literary traditions.
Read the words. Consider the meaning. Find your own path.
Note: This book is a compilation of all translations I have done up until the 18th of September 2025. I am doing this as one book since some people have asked for all texts in one book. All books includes the Old Norse Text, an English translation and my personal interpretation and/or comment.
