Gerry Grubs is a poet who shares his work with others through his books but also through workshops. He has developed a unique approach to poetry workshops called Wordshop which he conducts through the year all across the country. His gentle style shows Zen influences and opens the world of observation and contemplation to his readers.
Gerry Grubbs' poems are of making and unmaking, of loss and recovery, of absence and presence, of all that abides and all that does not. They are open, honest, and direct, with a metaphoric power that takes us into the mysterious heart of things. Grubbs writes about family, about nature, about love. But his deepest subject is the ineffable, which casts its shadow upon his words, "Leaving us wondering / What has been lost / And how its absence / Effects everything that follows."

APPLE BLOSSOMS
There are bees among the apple blossoms
Those pink and white dresses the trees create
For their thin branches every spring
The bees come because of the fragrance that invites
They are attracted to the sudden appearance
Of this nourishing beauty in the receding gray of winter
But there is more happening here unseen
Like those who study sacred text soon discover
The fruit we desire soon begins to grow
The trees in our orchards fill with it
An abundance we share with others
Not entirely of our own making
