Andirony is an empire of a hundred duchies, principalities, states and other entities. The emperor is on a progression to visit his most important and successful divisions, some of which are magical. Peary is a seventeen-year-old girl moved to leave her isolated valley in the Duchy of Winthrop by a magical compulsion. A massive and magical conspiracy is at large, aiming not only at the emperor but also at Peary and her family and friends. Only Peary and her trusted advisor, the witch Amerlie, can break up the conspiracy. She'll need every bit of her newly acquired magical powers, and help from a few friends, if she is to stop the conspiracy, save the emperor's life and her own, and ascend to her rightful place in society.
